Course Description

This course is for people who are working with children and young people between the ages of 4 to 16 in settings such as after school clubs, breakfast clubs, holiday playschemes, adventure playgrounds and schools.

This course provides the necessary Food and Hygiene skills and knowledge that a Playworker will need in a playwork environment. The course enables learners to get involved in small group work, practical tasks and interactive games which will be followed with a short test at the end of the session to check understanding.

Course Content

• Foodborne illness, bacteria and prevention
• Contamination, spoilage and prevention of food poisoning
• Effective hygiene
• Storage, HACCP and the Law
• Allergies and dietary requirements 

All learners will be provided with course materials and a certificate of completion at the end of the course.
