Introduction to the Qualifications

This nationally recognised qualification provides in-depth information about the role of the level 3 Playworker when working with children and young people between the ages of 4 to 16. The course provides the trainee with a detailed understanding of the management of the play environments and line management of other staff.

The Level 3 Diploma is mostly theory, but has a practical application in the play environment. The course covers the knowledge and skills needed when working unsupervised and requires the trainee to demonstrate a full understanding of these in the workplace.

Course Content:

The full diploma course will cover:

• Playwork Principles
• Safeguarding Children
• Understanding self-directed play
• Understanding relationships in the play environment
• Health and Safety in a play environment
• Planning and supporting children's play
• Working with colleagues in a playwork team
• Engaging with parents, carers and families in a play environment

 
The course is taught and assessed through a highly motivational combination of practical tasks, research and debate, case studies, independent study and individual guided learning both in the training environment and in real work situations.

All training and assessments are adapted to your individual circumstances and a course manual along with all necessary support materials is provided throughout the course.

Entry Requirements:

You need to be 18 years of age or over and hold a level 2 qualification. The trainee must be working in a play environment at supervisory level. If you do not hold the relevant qualification but do have previous experience in childcare and playwork then please contact us for a discussion. 
You will also be asked to attend an introduction session and complete a basic skills assessment. You must be available Wednesdays from 9.30am until 2.30pm excluding school holiday dates.
