Where does Kids’ City Work?

We have schemes based in Lambeth, Wandsworth, Merton and Hounslow. The Index of Deprivation 2000 shows areas in which Kids’ City operates include wards ranked amongst the 10% most deprived in the country. We provide educational and recreational opportunities for all young children, so that they may mature into confident members of society.

Who Works For Kids’ City?

  • Staff

We employ approximately 60 staff, 8 full time and the remainder part time. Most of our staff are drawn from the local community and many are parent users of the service. All our staff have current enhanced police checks through the Disclosure and Barring Service. Centre staff are all trained and qualified in play work.

  • Volunteers and Interns

We also offer a range of volunteer opportunities and work with several universities to offer internships to students. All staff and volunteers have access to the fully accredited training programmes.

Training at Kids’ City

Kids’ City has a long standing commitment to training and staff development. We share best practice with other organisations and those with an interest in playwork.

Kids’ City remains committed to ensuring that its staff have effective, timely and appropriate training. In this way, we can together ensure that the children using our schemes have a safe, positive and well managed experience during their time with us.

Put simply, we aim to meet the following training needs:

How Is Kids’ City Financed?

Our objective is to keep the price affordable to families. We provide subsidised places and free places for those who need them. We charge fees for attendance, but these only make up less than half the cost of running each scheme. The rest of the funds we need to keep our organisation running come from local authority grants. In addition, we make a constant fundraising effort to gain support from charitable trusts and other similar organisations.
